Steffie lives in Melbourne, where she studied Fine Art, majoring in painting and printmaking, and she has been painting and exhibiting her atmospheric landscapes for over 30 years. Her artistic career began at 16 when she attended life drawing classes at the National Gallery Art School in Melbourne in the 1960s.
In addition to university studies, including Arts at Swinburne University, Steffie has worked as a graphic artist, art reviewer and arts writer contributor for various publications, including ‘The Melbourne Times’ and ‘Imprint’. In the 1980s, she was manager of an antique print gallery in Hawthorn, ‘l’estampe originale’ and lectured in art history at the CAE in Melbourne. More recently, she worked in web design and art marketing, but now paints full-time.
She has participated in many group and solo exhibitions, both in Australia and overseas, and was a previous winner at the Florence Biennale in Italy. In 2018, she was awarded ‘Best Landscape’ at the Linden New Art ‘Postcard Show’ in Melbourne, and this year she won the International Confederation of Art Critics Award, 3rd Prize, at the London Art Biennale.
