This bold ring was created by Italian Designer Maria Christina Bellucci. She created original pencil crayon jewellery, after working for several years as a theatre costume and accessories maker. During this period she created a range of jewellery for stage use. She developed a strong interest for contemporary jewellery and she dedicated herself to it.
Initially Maria Cristina mainly used silver in her work, although she has also employed gold and non-precious materials at times. What characterized her early work was the use of very thin metal sheets and wires, experimenting with hollowness and fullness.
In later work, she started using even thinner metal sheets, as if working with paper sheets, creating pieces that were voluminous and light at the same time.
Her more recent work is characterised by having more solid looking elements and also by the introduction of colour, not previously explored.
As much as designing and making her own personal jewellery collection, she works on commission, and also designs and creates jewellery in collaboration with other artists and designers.
Her pencil jewellery is are made using fragments of pencils that have been attached together and formed into a variety of shapes. The forming process reveals the interiors of the pencils, showcasing the wood and the coloured lead.
This ring is size ‘7’ or size ‘o’ depending on the measuring tool you use.
