Stephen Hill Collection

To celebrate World Pride in Sydney, Breathing Colours is proud to present an exhibition of works created and collected by Stephen Hill (1955 – 1989).

Stephen studied at East Sydney Tech and then received a MFA at University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Stephen’s works reflect the gay culture of the 70s and 80s and are in many collections in Australia and USA.

Stephen lived life to the full and was a regular at parties including those hosted by Andy Warhol, Gore Vidal and Zsa Zsa Gabor in New York and Brett Whitley and Peter Kingston in Sydney.

Stephen died from AIDS in 1989 and is commemorated by his family in the AIDS Quilt program.

While this exhibition is a tribute to Stephen a limited number of works will be available for purchase.
